Christmas is a season of compassion, and at PTG we strongly believe in giving back to the communities we are part of. In a time when many feel increased uncertainty, this support is more important than ever.
125 years of the Christmas kettle
This year marks the 125th time The Salvation Army places its iconic Christmas kettles across Norway. Unfortunately, the latest figures show that the need for support remains high. The Salvation Army’s poverty barometer reports that one in five Norwegians – 19 percent – are worried about whether they can afford to celebrate Christmas. Among families with children, this affects one in four. And for those already in a challenging economic situation, two out of three fear that this year’s celebrations will be even more difficult. That is why the work carried out through the Christmas kettle is especially important this year.
The first Christmas kettle in Norway appeared in 1901. Since then, it has become a familiar symbol of hope, generosity, and community — standing in town squares and streets throughout the country for 125 years. The Salvation Army is present in many of the same local communities as PTG, which makes it both meaningful and natural for us to contribute.
Our Christmas greeting is a tribute to the important work The Salvation Army does, and a reminder that we can all help create a warmer Christmas for those who need it.

Food Bank in Northern Norway
The Food Bank in Northern Norway redistributes surplus food to people in difficult life situations. Through close collaboration with wholesalers and retailers, they make a valuable contribution — both by supporting people in need and by reducing food waste. Their work is built on genuine community spirit, something we at PTG are proud to support.
With this, we would like to wish everyone a peaceful and joyful Christmas.
