PTG is colla\u00adbo\u00adrating in the project with R\u00f8rvik Kulde, a local contractor and partner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cAs a supplier of sustai\u00adnable tempe\u00adrature and energy solutions, we\u2019ve colla\u00adbo\u00adrated fruit\u00adfully with Sinka\u00adberg\u00adHansen and R\u00f8rvik Kulde for many years and are pleased to be able to continue working together,\u201d says Frode Berg, PTG\u2019s technical manager.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"spellingerror\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Big commitment<br>\n<\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Lakse\u00adfab\u00adrikken at Mar\u00f8ya repre\u00adsents a big commitment for Sinka\u00adberg\u00adHansen, with an overall area of 17 000 square metres and an annual production capacity of 100 000 tonnes of salmon. That repre\u00adsents a doubling in capacity compared with the existing During the night, a drying system will remove surface water to prevent bacterial growth.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">All hot water is to be produced by recovering heat from cooling and freezing in the production process. A CO<sub>2<\/sub> heat pump will recover heat from the cooling plant in order to raise the tempe\u00adrature to 70\u201380<\/span><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00b0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">C. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The energy system will also deliver heat to the production process as well as to office premises, and for melting snow and for the dehumi\u00addi\u00adfi\u00adcation system.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Greener<br>\n<\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Sinka\u00adberg\u00adHansen is known for its commitment to energy-efficient solutions which contribute to a greener aquaculture industry.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cIn total, the various measures will make a substantial contri\u00adbution to the UN\u2019s sustai\u00adnable devel\u00adopment goals for energy efficiency,\u201d says Ragnar S\u00e6ternes, research and devel\u00adopment coordi\u00adnator at SinkabergHansen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cWhen investing in a new plant, we must keep in mind tomorrow\u2019s compe\u00adtitive position and market require\u00adments,\u201d adds project manager Eskil Laukvik. \u201cApart from further reducing the industry\u2019s environ\u00admental impact, the measures we\u2019re taking also facilitate more economic operation.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cThat\u2019s naturally very inter\u00ade\u00adsting for the devel\u00adopment of a forward-looking and sustai\u00adnable aquaculture industry.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Innovative<br>\n<\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Berg reports that PTG and Sinka\u00adberg\u00adHansen have colla\u00adbo\u00adrated for several months in a preli\u00adminary project to design an efficient solution. State-owned Enova is providing support as part of its programme on energy and climate commit\u00adments in industry. The solution will help to save almost three megawatt-hours (MWh) per&nbsp;annum.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">PTG is among the leaders for industrial plants using CO<sub>2<\/sub> as the refri\u00adgerant. Lakse\u00adfab\u00adrikken will be the first salmon harve\u00adsting facility of its size to use this gas as the refri\u00adgerant for the whole cooling system, with the exception of an ice machine utilising ammonia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The cooling and heating plant comprises a number of units linked together in an integrated energy system. It includes four SeaCO<sub>2<\/sub>ol refri\u00adge\u00adrated seawater (RSW) units for cooling seawater and fish, a Finsam ice plant, a tunnel freezer, CO<sub>2<\/sub> air conditioning and a CO<sub>2<\/sub> heat pump for hot water and space heating.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cSinka\u00adberg\u00adHansen has long experience with CO<sub>2<\/sub> as a refri\u00adgerant and would like to use it throughout the Mar\u00f8ya facility for environ\u00admental reasons,\u201d says Berg. \u201cIt\u2019s satifisfied with the technology and wants to take it even further.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><b><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Phasing out<br>\n<\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Norway has been a prime mover in securing inter\u00adna\u00adtional agreements on phasing out freon (R22) and hydro\u00adfluo\u00adro\u00adcarbons (HFCs), and 197 nations reached agreement in Rwanda during 2016 to cut the use of these powerful green\u00adhouse gases (GHGs).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The effect of the various GHGs on the climate is measured by their global warming potential (GWP) and ozone depletion potential (ODP).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Freon is 1 700 times more damaging for the environment than CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;as a GHG, but is primarily harmful for its negative effect on the ozone&nbsp;layer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"spellingerror\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">With a GWP of 3 922, the R404a HFC refri\u00adgerant blend is also risky for its long-term negative environ\u00admental effect.
