\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhen the Norwegian Forces finalised a new long-term agreement with Drytech in Troms\u00f8 last summer, it marked the end of a long and demanding contracting process. Now, six months later, the effects of the agreement are becoming visible. Drytech has begun delivering on the contract, production is running at full capacity, and the company has already started investing to meet increased demand.

Cannot be measured<\/strong>
The impact of the contract is felt far beyond the factory floor in \u00d8rneveien. Local industrial companies have received contracts worth tens of millions of NOK.
\u201cSuch contracts create optimism and opport\u00adu\u00adnities for local suppliers like us,\u201d says Frode Berg of PTG Kulde\u00adteknisk.
Together with Maritim Sveise\u00adservice, they are supplying new drying chambers to Drytech \u2013central to the production of both field rations and the company\u2019s products under the brand REAL Turmat.
\u201cWhen the Norwegian Armed Forces choose a supplier from Northern Norway, it creates important activity here,\u201d says Roar Karlsen, Head of Finance and Market at Maritim Sveise\u00adservice.
They agree that the value of these contracts cannot be measured solely in financial terms.
\u201cThis repre\u00adsents a major boost in compe\u00adtence. The knowledge we build through such deliveries stays with us and helps prepare us for other types of projects and customers,\u201d they say.

At the Cutting Edge<\/strong>
That these suppliers are involved in the project is no coinci\u00addence. Their coope\u00adration with Drytech spans more than 20 years, and speci\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions have become stricter with each delivery.
\u201cDrytech is the most demanding customer we have when it comes to refri\u00adge\u00adration speci\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions,\u201d says Berg, adding:
\u201cThey challenge us in techno\u00adlo\u00adgical devel\u00adopment, and they are willing to lead the way.\u201d
The drying chambers now being built represent a new generation of solutions. Everything from material choices and surfaces to cleaning and mainte\u00adnance has been further developed.
Karlsen adds:
\u201cDrytech was also the first customer we had who required environ\u00admental accounting, long before it became standard in the industry.\u201d
He continues:
\u201cWhen require\u00adments are set at a cutting-edge level, they drive innovation among suppliers. That is how an entire value chain is strengt\u00adhened.\u201d

Preparedness<\/strong>
For Trond Hansen, CEO of Drytech, choosing local suppliers is also about preparedness.
\u201cWe produce the fuel for soldiers so they can perform in demanding situa\u00adtions. That makes local production and availa\u00adbility crucial for preparedness,\u201d he says, conti\u00adnuing:
\u201cWhen we invest quickly and scale up production, it is a clear advantage to have suppliers close by. Then both expertise and capacity are available locally when the need arises.\u201d

Industrial Ripple Effects in Practice<\/strong>
According to the trio, the Norwegian Armed Forces\u2019 contract with Drytech demon\u00adstrates how industrial ripple effects work in practice.
\u201cTroms\u00f8 is a city with a high share of public-sector jobs. At the same time, the need for more industry and value creation in the north has been a recurring theme in political debate for years,\u201d says Karlsen of Maritim Sveise\u00adservice.
Trond Hansen of Drytech points out how a single contract can influence this:
\u201cHere, public funds have triggered invest\u00adments, jobs, and devel\u00adopment in a local value chain \u2013 not through subsidies, but through clear require\u00adments and a well-designed procurement process. This should serve as an example for future invest\u00adments, espec\u00adially in defence.\u201d
\u201cIf politi\u00adcians are looking for examples that this works, they don\u2019t have to look far. They can look to Troms\u00f8,\u201d agrees PTG\u2019s Frode Berg.

Believe in inter\u00adna\u00adtional growth<\/strong>
Drytech already exports to around 20 countries and also supplies foreign armed forces. Increased capacity in Troms\u00f8 strengthens both the company\u2019s inter\u00adna\u00adtional position and Norway\u2019s ability to deliver when it really matters.
\u201cWe believe in continued growth, both in Norway and inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnally. The contract has been a key factor enabling us to scale up and deliver larger volumes, also to other customers.
